Adjective: A word that describes or qualifies a noun.
Adverb: A word that modifies a verb, adjective, or other adverb.
Conjunction: A joining word (e.g. “and,” “but”) linking words or clauses.
Noun: A naming word — a person, place, thing, or idea.
Particle: A short function word — article, negation, interrogative, the sign of the direct object, and the like.
Preposition: A relational word (e.g. “in,” “to,” “from”) governing a noun.
