Hebrew & Greek parsing quiz
Recognizing a word is only half of reading the original languages — the other half is parsing: looking at an inflected form and naming exactly what it is. Is ἐποίησεν aorist or imperfect? Active or middle? This drill shows you a real form straight from the text and asks you to build its full parse from scratch — part of speech, then every grammatical attribute — rather than picking from a list of options. Producing the answer, not recognizing it, is the skill that transfers to reading.
Every form is a genuine word from the tagged text, and the answer is its actual decoded morphology — the same parse shown on the verse pages and in the grammar search. Nothing here is invented. You parse the main (head) word of the form; any attached prefix or suffix is set aside, the standard way parsing is taught. Your score is kept only on this device.
The parsing quiz needs the morphology index, which is not built on this instance yet. The vocabulary trainer is available in the meantime.
How the quiz works
- You produce the parse. For each form you choose the part of speech and every grammatical attribute from dropdowns — there is no multiple-choice list of finished answers to recognize.
- Graded against the real morphology. Your selections are checked facet by facet against the form's decoded parse — the exact same data the verse pages and grammar search use.
- Set the not-applicable facets to “—”. A noun has no tense; a verb may have no case. Leaving an inapplicable facet on “—” is the correct answer for it.
- Private by design. Your running accuracy is kept only in this browser. Nothing is uploaded; there is no account.
