Every study tool in Lemma today — lexicon, commentaries, cross-references, morphology, search — is free for everyone, no account needed. Supporting isn't unlocking today's tools; it keeps the project independent and, on the higher tiers, gets you new tools first as they ship.
Using Lemma for free is completely fine — most people do, and it stays fully featured. A tier is just how you pitch in if it's become part of your study.
Support runs through Patreon, so it needs a Patreon account (that's what handles billing and cancel-anytime). Using Lemma itself never does.
There's no company here — no investors, and we don't sell your data to anyone. The free tier's only monetization is non-personalized ads — two on a page, one above the page content and one at the foot. Support covers four running costs:

Every study tool you see today is free for everyone, and no page on Lemma is paywalled. Paid tiers support the project and add downloadable artifacts; new supporter tools reach the higher tiers first as they ship.
When a pledge change reaches Lemma. Your pledge is read from Patreon when you sign in, and only then. A sign-in lasts 30 days and renews itself once it's more than 10 days old and you're still using Lemma — so an installed app never signs you out merely for being away — but a renewal re-reads your existing sign-in, it never re-asks Patreon. So a change or a cancellation takes effect the next time you sign in, and at the latest once renewals stop, 90 days after your first sign-in, with the last renewed sign-in running out within 30 days of that. There's no grandfathering: what you get is whatever your pledge is worth at that check.
