וַיְהִי֙ אַחֲרֵי כֵ֔ן וַיָּ֕מָת נָחָ֖שׁ מֶ֣לֶךְ בְּנֵי עַמּ֑וֹן וַיִּמְלֹ֥ךְ בְּנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר דָּוִ֜יד אֶֽעֱשֶׂה חֶ֣סֶד עִם חָנ֣וּן בֶּן נָחָ֗שׁ כִּֽי עָשָׂ֨ה אָבִ֤יו עִמִּי֙ חֶ֔סֶד וַיִּשְׁלַ֥ח דָּוִ֛יד מַלְאָכִ֖ים לְנַחֲמ֣וֹ עַל אָבִ֑יו וַיָּבֹאוּ֩ עַבְדֵ֨י דָוִ֜יד אֶל אֶ֧רֶץ בְּנֵי עַמּ֛וֹן אֶל חָנ֖וּן לְנַחֲמֽוֹ

and to say · David · to do · kindness · with · Hanun · son of · Nahash · that · to do · father his · with me · kindness · and to send · David · messengers · to comfort him · upon · father his · and to enter · servants of · David · to · land of · sons of · Ammon · to · Hanun · to comfort him

וַיֹּאמְרוּ֩ שָׂרֵ֨י בְנֵי עַמּ֜וֹן לְחָנ֗וּן הַֽמְכַבֵּ֨ד דָּוִ֤יד אֶת אָבִ֨יךָ֙ בְּעֵינֶ֔יךָ כִּֽי שָׁלַ֥ח לְךָ֖ מְנַחֲמִ֑ים הֲלֹ֡א בַּ֠עֲבוּר לַחְקֹ֨ר וְלַהֲפֹ֤ךְ וּלְרַגֵּל֙ הָאָ֔רֶץ בָּ֥אוּ עֲבָדָ֖יו אֵלֶֽיךָ

and to say · princes of · sons of · Ammon · to/for Hanun · being heavy · David · - · father your · in/at eyes your · that · to send · to/for you · comforting · not · in/at because of of · to search · and to overturn · and to walk · the land · to enter · servants his · to you

וַיִּקַּ֨ח חָנ֜וּן אֶת עַבְדֵ֤י דָוִיד֙ וַֽיְגַלְּחֵ֔ם וַיִּכְרֹ֧ת אֶת מַדְוֵיהֶ֛ם בַּחֵ֖צִי עַד הַמִּפְשָׂעָ֑ה וַֽיְשַׁלְּחֵֽם

and to take · Hanun · - · servants of · David · and to shave them · and to cut · - · garments their · in/at the half · until · the hip · and to send them

וַיֵּלְכוּ֩ וַיַּגִּ֨ידוּ לְדָוִ֤יד עַל הָֽאֲנָשִׁים֙ וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח לִקְרָאתָ֔ם כִּי הָי֥וּ הָאֲנָשִׁ֖ים נִכְלָמִ֣ים מְאֹ֑ד וַיֹּ֤אמֶר הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ֙ שְׁב֣וּ בִֽירֵח֔וֹ עַ֛ד אֲשֶׁר יְצַמַּ֥ח זְקַנְכֶ֖ם וְשַׁבְתֶּֽם

and to walk · and to make known · to/for David · upon · the men · and to send · to meet them · that · to be · the men · shaming · exceedingly · and to say · the king · dwell · in/at Jericho · until · which · to sprout · beard your · and to return

וַיִּרְאוּ֙ בְּנֵ֣י עַמּ֔וֹן כִּ֥י הִֽתְבָּאֲשׁ֖וּ עִם דָּוִ֑יד וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח חָ֠נוּן וּבְנֵ֨י עַמּ֜וֹן אֶ֣לֶף כִּכַּר כֶּ֗סֶף לִשְׂכֹּ֣ר לָ֠הֶם מִן אֲרַ֨ם נַהֲרַ֜יִם וּמִן אֲרַ֤ם מַעֲכָה֙ וּמִצּוֹבָ֔ה רֶ֖כֶב וּפָרָשִֽׁים

and to see · sons of · Ammon · that · to stink · with · David · and to send · Hanun · and sons of · Ammon · thousand · round of · silver · to hire · to/for them · from · Aram-naharaim · Aram-naharaim · and from · Aram · Maachathites · and from Zoba · chariot · and horses

וַיִּשְׂכְּר֣וּ לָהֶ֡ם שְׁנַיִם֩ וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֨ים אֶ֜לֶף רֶ֗כֶב וְאֶת מֶ֤לֶךְ מַעֲכָה֙ וְאֶת עַמּ֔וֹ וַיָּבֹ֕אוּ וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ לִפְנֵ֣י מֵידְבָ֑א וּבְנֵ֣י עַמּ֗וֹן נֶאֶסְפוּ֙ מֵעָ֣רֵיהֶ֔ם וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ לַמִּלְחָמָֽה

and to hire · to/for them · two · and thirty · thousand · chariot · and - · king of · Maachathites · and - · people his · and to enter · and to encamp · to/for face(s) of · Medeba · and sons of · Ammon · to gather · from cities their · and to enter · to/for the battle

וַיִּשְׁמַ֖ע דָּוִ֑יד וַיִּשְׁלַח֙ אֶת יוֹאָ֔ב וְאֵ֥ת כָּל צָבָ֖א הַגִּבּוֹרִֽים

and to hear · David · and to send · - · Joab · and - · all of · army · the mighty

וַיֵּצְאוּ֙ בְּנֵ֣י עַמּ֔וֹן וַיַּֽעַרְכ֥וּ מִלְחָמָ֖ה פֶּ֣תַח הָעִ֑יר וְהַמְּלָכִ֣ים אֲשֶׁר בָּ֔אוּ לְבַדָּ֖ם בַּשָּׂדֶֽה

and to go out · sons of · Ammon · and to arrange · battle · doorway of · the city · and the kings · which · to enter · to/for apart their · in/at the field

וַיַּ֣רְא יוֹאָ֗ב כִּֽי הָיְתָ֧ה פְנֵי הַמִּלְחָמָ֛ה אֵלָ֖יו פָּנִ֣ים וְאָח֑וֹר וַיִּבְחַ֗ר מִכָּל בָּחוּר֙ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַֽיַּעֲרֹ֖ךְ לִקְרַ֥את אֲרָֽם

and to see · Joab · that · to be · face(s) of · the battle · to him · face(s) · and behind · and to choose · from all of · chosen · in/at Israel · and to arrange · to meet · Aram

וְאֵת֙ יֶ֣תֶר הָעָ֔ם נָתַ֕ן בְּיַ֖ד אַבְשַׁ֣י אָחִ֑יו וַיַּ֣עַרְכ֔וּ לִקְרַ֖את בְּנֵ֥י עַמּֽוֹן

וַיֹּ֗אמֶר אִם תֶּחֱזַ֤ק מִמֶּ֨נִּי֙ אֲרָ֔ם וְהָיִ֥יתָ לִּ֖י לִתְשׁוּעָ֑ה וְאִם בְּנֵ֥י עַמּ֛וֹן יֶֽחֶזְק֥וּ מִמְּךָ֖ וְהוֹשַׁעְתִּֽיךָ

and to say · if · to strengthen · from me · Aram · and to be · to/for me · to/for salvation · and if · sons of · Ammon · to strengthen · from you · and to save you

חֲזַ֤ק וְנִֽתְחַזְּקָה֙ בְּעַד עַמֵּ֔נוּ וּבְעַ֖ד עָרֵ֣י אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ וַֽיהוָ֔ה הַטּ֥וֹב בְּעֵינָ֖יו יַעֲשֶֽׂה

strengthen · and to strengthen · behind · people our · and behind · cities of · God(s) our · and LORD · the good · in/at eyes his · to do

וַיִּגַּ֨שׁ יוֹאָ֜ב וְהָעָ֧ם אֲשֶׁר עִמּ֛וֹ לִפְנֵ֥י אֲרָ֖ם לַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה וַיָּנ֖וּסוּ מִפָּנָֽיו

and to approach · Joab · and the people · which · with him · to/for face(s) of · Aram · to/for the battle · and to flee · from face(s) his

וּבְנֵ֨י עַמּ֤וֹן רָאוּ֙ כִּי נָ֣ס אֲרָ֔ם וַיָּנ֣וּסוּ גַם הֵ֗ם מִפְּנֵי֙ אַבְשַׁ֣י אָחִ֔יו וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ הָעִ֑ירָה וַיָּבֹ֥א יוֹאָ֖ב יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם

and sons of · Ammon · to see · that · to flee · Aram · and to flee · also · they · from face(s) of · Abishai · brother his · and to enter · the city toward · and to enter · Joab · Jerusalem

וַיַּ֣רְא אֲרָ֗ם כִּ֣י נִגְּפוּ֮ לִפְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ וַֽיִּשְׁלְחוּ֙ מַלְאָכִ֔ים וַיּוֹצִ֣יאוּ אֶת אֲרָ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֖ר מֵעֵ֣בֶר הַנָּהָ֑ר וְשׁוֹפַ֛ךְ שַׂר צְבָ֥א הֲדַדְעֶ֖זֶר לִפְנֵיהֶֽם

and to see · Aram · that · to strike · to/for face(s) of · Israel · and to send · messengers · and to go out · - · Aram · which · from side of · the stream · and Shophach · prince of · army of · Hadadezer · to/for face(s) their

וַיֻּגַּ֣ד לְדָוִ֗יד וַיֶּאֱסֹ֤ף אֶת כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וַיַּעֲבֹ֣ר הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן וַיָּבֹ֣א אֲלֵהֶ֔ם וַֽיַּעֲרֹ֖ךְ אֲלֵהֶ֑ם וַיַּעֲרֹ֨ךְ דָּוִ֜יד לִקְרַ֤את אֲרָם֙ מִלְחָמָ֔ה וַיִּֽלָּחֲמ֖וּ עִמּֽוֹ

and to make known · to/for David · and to gather · - · all of · Israel · and to pass over · the Jordan · and to enter · to them · and to arrange · to them · and to arrange · David · to meet · Aram · battle · and to fight · with him

וַיָּ֣נָס אֲרָם֮ מִלִּפְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ וַיַּהֲרֹ֨ג דָּוִ֜יד מֵאֲרָ֗ם שִׁבְעַ֤ת אֲלָפִים֙ רֶ֔כֶב וְאַרְבָּעִ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף אִ֣ישׁ רַגְלִ֑י וְאֵ֛ת שׁוֹפַ֥ךְ שַֽׂר הַצָּבָ֖א הֵמִֽית

and to flee · Aram · from to/for face(s) of · Israel · and to kill · David · from Aram · seven · thousand · chariot · and forty · thousand · man · foot soldier · and - · Shophach · prince of · the army · to die

וַיִּרְא֞וּ עַבְדֵ֣י הֲדַדְעֶ֗זֶר כִּ֤י נִגְּפוּ֙ לִפְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיַּשְׁלִ֥ימוּ עִם דָּוִ֖יד וַיַּֽעַבְדֻ֑הוּ וְלֹא אָבָ֣ה אֲרָ֔ם לְהוֹשִׁ֥יעַ אֶת בְּנֵי עַמּ֖וֹן עֽוֹד

and to see · servants of · Hadadezer · that · to strike · to/for face(s) of · Israel · and to be at peace · with · David · and to serve him · and not · to be willing · Aram · to save · - · sons of · Ammon · still
